VETERANS
For all veterans interested in participating, the flight, ground transportation, scooters and wheelchairs, meals and other necessities are free of charge. Local volunteers, or guardians, will accompany the veterans on the trip to assist with any physical or health needs and limitations. First Coast Honor Air is preparing a forth trip May 16, 2009 (funds permitting).
If you are a veteran or know a veteran who may be interested in making this trip, please call Dan Finch at 904-272-1003. Veterans are asked to leave a name and phone number where they can be reached, and a volunteer will return their call. All World War II Veterans are encouraged to participate in this event, and veterans may enroll now to be placed on the waiting list for the 4th trip.
TRAVEL
The participants travel by chartered aircraft, a US Airways 737, from Jacksonville, Florida to Reagan Washington National Airport, where they board motor coaches and travel to the Washington Mall to tour the World War II Memorial.
FAMILY MEMBERS
Family members may attend at the discretion of FCHA, but will need to purchase their seats at an estimated cost of $450. Seating priority is for veterans, but we will try to accommodate spouses and companions space permitting. THERE IS NO COST FOR VETERANS to attend the trip!
GUARDIANS
In order to make Honor Air both enjoyable and memorable for our First Coast World War II Veterans, we have guardians, or escorts, to facilitate the trips. Guardians will accompany the veterans on the trip and assist with any physical or health needs and limitations. The estimated cost of the trip is $450, and you will be expected to personally escort many veterans for the entirety of the day. Please leave a name and phone number where you can be reached, and a volunteer will return your call. Please send guardian contribution checks along with guardian names and contact information to:
